The slicer can slice vegetables. I have tried to slice potatoes & onions. Both of them can be sliced with this Ganesh slicer. So, I take that it would be able to slice cucumber, carrot, turnip & other vegetables. The blade is sharp and the thickness of the slice can be adjusted. The blade may not catch rust, if used regularly. Very thin slice can be cut using this slicer.One should be careful using the slicer as you can hurt yourself due to carelessness. Do not try to slice too quickly, first take a grip on the slicer by cutting with it for few times. Always, use the teethed vegetable gripper to avoid accidental cuts.I gave a star less as the slicer I recieved has few damaged teeth in the vegetable gripper. And the alignment of the blade is not proper, so I am getting a tappered slice. One side thin and the other side thick.

Ganesh has drastically downgraded the quality of this slicer. I purchased my first slicer 3 years back and it was sturdy enough to last 3 years and then again I bought the same slicer now to realize how pathetic they have become.Ordered 2 slicers back to back and both of them did not last even 15 days. Absolute crap.

I won't post pictures of the slicer as most people have already done it. About the slicer: the safety holder is of poor quality. One of the tooth on it was already broken when it arrived. And a few more broke in the very first insertion of a potato. Coming to the slicer part. It is a very flimsy steel. My main reason for purchase was the adjustable quotient. But sadly that is where it fails. A lot of people complain about the blade edge tilted at one end, this happens only when you adjust the blade for thickness. It is the fault in design, when you twist the knob, it puts pressure on one end and results in the tilt. You can readjust it and the blade aligns properly. But, who has the time to do that when you're in a hurry? In my opinion use a basic slicer with fixed thickness. Works great in the long run.I have an "Anjali" brand slicer that I bought for Rs 80, about 5 yrs ago.(posted pic). The current price is 120 in local stores. It is full steel body with only the handle being plastic. Works like a charm.I gave 2 stars for the low price of this Ganesh slicer (150), but trust me it is not worth it.

Simple tool does one thing its meant to do that is slicing very well. Mechanism to change width is very robust as its mechanical. Good built nothing is flaky which seems like it woukd break. Vegetable holder is sturdy and very useful great to protect hands from its super sharp blades. Cuts every thing with ease. Makes potato chips very well. You can adjust thickness to be quite thin. Easy to clean and its steel surface gives very nice place for vegetable to move. Overall happy witj experience using from two weeks.
